Went out to ski the east pillowfields on pulpit knob 4 today. Good skin track in. River crossing required a magic carpet or flip flops to cross as theres no snow bridges yet. We went to ascend between knob 4 & 3 today. We thought the river crossing would be the crux today buta lot of bushwacking in the alders in steep and deep snow was much harder. Once we were up we skiied the east pillows. Saw no avalanche activity all day, and didnt seem like much snow was loaded from the recent wind but it looks like lots of fresh snow is coming. We saw S2 today for a frew hours, and temperature was pretty mild (~-10). East face seemed very stable all day, felt pretty consolidate and we didnt feel any layers when we probed, but didnt dig a pit. Pillows skiied great with no coreshots all day!! Would probably say you could hold off going here though until more snow comes to cover the alders and the river freezes.
