Quality day out Sunday in the Simpson burn area. The morning was a crisp -18 C and bluebird, but warmed to -1 C and overcast by 330pm at the road. Despite no fresh snow all week we rode powder in the trees and slide paths for the first two laps. Most of the day was quite sunny and when the clouds rolled in early afternoon the temps dropped and a bit of a crust formed in the open areas. We dug a pit at 2150m and got no reaction to compression test. We observed no signs of instability and saw just one old natural slide across the valley. Snow depth was 140-170cm
