An end to Saskatchewan Glacier approach

Parker Townes, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

Skied Castleguard mountain on Sunday. Conditions varied considerably based on elevation. - Good freeze overnight allowed for fast travel in the morning. We were able to cross most of the ponds at the Sask Moraine. On the descent, however, we could not cross any water bodies and had to trudge through boot-deep mud instead. Snow bridges over the creek were slim to nil. - Sask glacier was solid on the approach and a mix of corn and breakable crust in the afternoon. - Above 2500m it was still winter conditions and great skiing. A hand shear at 2900m E aspect had a hard but clean result ~50cm down.
