Bell Colouir

Brandon Parker, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:32PM

We were a party of 6 who watched a party of 2 and a party of 4 descend the steepest part of the line from the sheltered area lookers left of the line. Due to the results of watching them we proceeded up the bootpack. In the steep section there was extremely variable conditions from 4-6cm on powder on a consolidated layer, to bulletproof proof hard snow. While skiing the line we had some small reactions in very isolated pockets only in the areas of the colouir >40°>. They did not propogate or cause much concern due to the isolated nature. The fresh snow on top appeared to have some wind consolidation that was bonding it in these areas. The one "slab" I released was possibly 2ft wide and did not not slide more than one foot. The other min from today that indicates there was a 1.5 avalanche is absolutely incorrect. There was some significant sluffing in the colouir but absolutely no avalanche. Their picture of the avalanche actually is showing ski tracks(not a crown) and was taken from the moraines(~300m away) which limited their ability to properly visualize the terrain due to the light and weather.
