Nara Shoulder

anthony.stielow, Saturday 7th March, 2020 7:40PM

Skied on Narao shoulder today with quite a few other groups. Ski quality was ... just okay (see photos). We toured up to treeline and the wind affect has done all sorts of bad things to the snow and wouldnt be worth skiing. We settled for a decent day in the trees (again see photos). Jokes aside, we did notice that the storm snow was sluffing quite easily and we were able to ski cut it on some very small convexities as low as 30 degrees, especially near treeline and where firm layers existed underneath. On well supported slopes, we found the storm snow to be holding well up to 35 degree terrain. We didn't venture onto anything steeper. We tried our hardest today to track it all up, but there is still lots of "okay" snow for someone else on Narao.
