Ridge 2000 (full)

jena.greaser, Sunday 19th March, 2023 8:00PM

Crossed Fish Bowl from top of Gobbler's Knob, over towards Ridge 2000. Snowboarders had a harder time crossing even at 10am with warming temperatures and wetter snow. They got sucked down further than myself skiing. The drop into Fish was pretty skied out, but on the northeast aspect with nice snow. Yesterday (Saturday the 18th), when lapping Gobbler's Knob in bounds, I saw that there was natural loose/wet running into the traverse across in upper Fish that had let go at some point. Not sure when, possibly the previous day, as I was there from 1idh to 3ish. After crossing Fish Bowl, we utilized the very worn in skin track. When we got to the top, we left our skis/boards, but took our bags and poles and followed the bootpack up to the top for the 360 bluebird view. This was around 12pm. The temps were very warm, but nothing was naturally letting loose in Liverwurst or Fish (But there were natural loose/wet slides coming down the main bowl of Liverwurst that had occurred in the previous days, as well as a crown from a slab that let go, much higher up from the rocky ridge transition). For our descent, we rode the main ridge down and had a few southwest turns in the open trees. It was wet, but smooth and creamy. It felt stable. We then dropped the northeast aspect (no photos, just have video footage) into light powder, with plenty of line options still untouched. Very visible loose/wet avalanches had occurred lower in Fish Bowl (terrain trap area) within the last few days.
