Quick Observation

Surprisingly good conditions today, with anywhere from 50 - 90 cm total height of snow, and 15 cms of fluffy white on top of a semi-supportive crust. The crux of the day was the sled ride in, with several open creeks, early season sled malfunctions and the usual first-day-of-the-season hiccups (sleds aren't any fun without gas). We saw evidence of several small slab avalanches up to size 2 on SE to SW slopes prior to this latest round of storm snow. We felt lots of whumping while touring back up a westerly slope at the end of the day. It felt great to be back out in the snow!
