Spooky Pow on Chief Pascall

South Coast Inland

Good day exploring the storm snow on Chief Pascall. Climbed up through the trees and observed whumfing and some cracking around 1700m on convexities in the trees. Lots of natural activity in the alpine and at Treeline. Crowns ranging from 20cm to 60cm+. Seem to have all popped at various times during the last week of storms. Dug a pit at 1900m on a 30ish- degree NNE slope at treeline. Very spooky result on our compression test with a sudden planer on "Easy 6" 80cm down. Slid easily on the melt-freeze crust that predates the storms of the last week. Snowpack was 185cm deep. Skied down conservatively but ride quality was amazing.
