Powder Valley / Paddy peal

Parking lot field wx obs. 1050 -10.5c overcast calm winds nil precip. Easy travel by snowmobile up into the alpine. Variable Alpine HS with supportive crust. Boot pen varied from 0 - 30cm. Cornices are growing. Wind slabs were un-reactive to skiers. Debris (several) from previous Na avalanche cycle still visible on N and S aspects. S aspect Na into paddy pass. Surface hoar was forming in the alpine. Visibility improved across the day with scattered cloud and unlimited visibility in the afternoon. Light south winds picked up in the afternoon. Skiing off paddy peak was good but wind effected.
