Spearhead

Had a lovely sunny day on the Spearhead. One other party of patrollers who got an early start but otherwise we had the range to ourselves. Almost all aspects and elevations in the traverse had some surface or very near surface crust, either rime or sun. Crust wasn’t breakable while skiing but enough to get an edge in skinning most places. Didn’t notice much for solar affect. Best snow of the day was a few cm of powder on the musical bumps where it wasn’t skied out. Otherwise great travel conditions but not so much skiing.
Probed snow depth of 235cm on Trorey Glacier at 2250m and 170cm at singing pass at 1720m.
More crevasses and exposed rocks this year. Roped up to climb the Tremor-Shudder Col which had a shrund and a 15m pitch of thinly covered ice to the top. Overlord notch rappel is ~25m to snow.
