Found some giant avalanches!

The recent storm hit the Lizard Range with heavy precipitation and warm temperatures. This rapid increase in load was likely the trigger of these large avalanches that released on the early December persistent weak layer.
What we noticed about these start zones was the rocky nature of the terrain, where the snowpack is a bit shallower. This reminded us that this persistent weak layer is still a player in the Lizard Range/Flathead region. We will continue to manage this problem by avoiding steep, rocky terrain features where the snowpack is shallow
