Surprise

On our Surprise lap, tried to ski a bonus lap down towards The Tease in a treed avalanche path (south aspect) and observed + heard a widespread settlement in an slightly more open area. Experienced cracking of the upper layers of the snowpack when uptracking from our mini putt adventure. Too touchy for us to consider skiing over the steeper mid-path, treed convex roll. Skier compacted Surprise Pass was the safer choice. It has seen a lot of traffic, but skied fairly well for the resort-like conditions. Bring the big burly boards to make lemonade out of the wind affected, cruddy skied snow.
