Winter came back! Yay! We started very cautious do to the new storm snow sitting on a bunch of nastiness. New snow was 20-50cms drainage and transport dependant. We traveled fast and far after gaining some confidence in the snowpack. New storm snow had not really settled into a cohesive slab yet so we neither saw or caused any large avalanches on our tour. Winds picked up in the pm hours with a fair amount of ridgetop transport. Alpine temos were around -6 but when the sun was out it was strong. Saw several point releases and small slabs to size 1 and saw the aftermath of one sz1.5 sled triggered slide on a steep NW aspect at roughly 2200m. We went hard and came home wet! So nice to see winter back. Moving cautiously into the weekend and will continue to monitor the storm slab development as the warmer temps increase. Ride safe.
