Quick Observation

Please note that these observations are only to share what will lie beneath the incoming storm snow, snow conditions will be drastically different after today (Feb 26). We skied up to Mamquam icefield. Paranoid creek crossing was easy. The snow in the steep trees below darling lake felt like a thick icy crust with a few cm of powder layered on top. Everything in the alpine was very wind affected with a 5cm chalky wind affected layer being predominant in this area, but we found localized pockets of powder and icy punch crust. We turned around as the storm moved in. New storm snow was powdery in the alpine and becoming heavy and wet near 1000m.
