Cornices and wind slabs

Banff Yoho Kootenay

Went up Tumbling creek to try to ski some big lines but found unfavourable conditions. Access up was reasonable, the snow line is about 1800m and the trail is mostly clear before that. As we got up into the alpine we could tell right away we wouldn’t be skiing anything big. The wind had been busy making big touchy cornices that overhung all the lines. Observed multiple big sluffs and cornice failures. Wind slabs look to be widespread in the alpine on Lee features. Went exploring but ended up not skiing much. Still very winter up high.
