Mountain Conditions Report

<p>My friend Takeshi and I just completed Southern Cariboo Traverse yesterday.<br /> Here is summary.</p> <p>Trip Date<br /> 4/25-5/2, 2017</p> <p>Weather<br /> Generally unsettled spring weather, some degree of precipitation everyday but nothing major.<br /> 4/29 15-25cm overnight and another 5-10cm on 5/1 with moderate westerly wind.<br /> Temps stay relatively cool but not cold (Low -10, High 5)</p> <p>Snowpack<br /> Spring snow pack, supportive MFcr on Southerly aspect to the ridge top,<br /> Breakable crust to dry pow on Northerly aspect depends on elevation.<br /> Minor wind effect on the ridge.<br /> New snow bonded well to those interface.</p> <p>Seems southern part's ( South from Lake McAndrew) snow was stronger than Premier range.<br /> We saw more faceted snow in upper snow pack in Premier range.</p> <p>Avalanche Obs<br /> No notable Avalanches during our trip. Lots stuff on South side has already slid.</p> <p>Glaciers<br /> Very good coverage up to 4m+</p> <p>Route Info<br /> We followed "Summits and Icefield" description the whole way.</p> <p>- Could ski down the crux (descent to Raush Glacier) this year.<br /> Steep entrance (183E442N) but doable.
