Skied several laps in the trees at Pedley Pass today with better than expected ski quality. There was a couple cms of new snow, with up to 5cms at the pass. We dug a pit near the ridge line at 2250m on a north facing slope. We had results at cte4 and cte7, both sudden planer failing on the layer that’s now down ~25-30cms. Overall snowpack was 85cms at the ridge that thins out as we moved down to valley bottom. The bottom of the snowpack is almost all facets.
There was a skier triggered avalanche approximately size 2, from another group at the top of the bowl on the skiers right. No one was caught in the slide. The crown looks to be ~100m wide and the slide ran to ground. It traveled around 350m down from the ridge.
