Devils canyon

Devils canyon on hwy 26 6 km west of Wells is well below Treelines at about 4,500’. However 40 cm or more of new snow getting heavy as zero approached. Snow is completely unattached to the crust layer from the long dry spell. Sluffs without effort. Natural slab moving on very low angle slopes (see pic). Whomping and remote triggering visible in semi open terrain but we didn’t set any slides ourselves as we were skiing in heavy trees for the most part, but it signals caution. Boilerplate layer often with frost crystals will take some strange machinations to ever attach itself to this deep storm snow.
