Quick Observation

Skied in the same areas as Lee's report today, but tried a steep treed pitch off the WNW aspect of the shoulder and found extremely touchy conditions. Shooting cracks all over the place and set off a size 1 that ran off a small cliff. Crown was surprisingly deep -- 40-45cms, soft slab -- and the bed surface was not the crust that I expected to find underneath. I didn't spend too much time poking around, but concerningly, there were shooting cracks and signs of instability even in the bed surface underneath the slide. Retreated back to less steep north facing terrain after that.
