Mt Whymper N Glacier

Climbed and skied N glacier on Mt. Whymper. Top 20cm of snowpack has stiffened in the valley bottom making it upside down enough to make trail breaking tough, but not enough to be an avalanche problem; sluffing was minimal in the steep supported features we skied. In the alpine we found old windslab under 5-10 of new snow, and a thin temperature crust present on the surface above 2400m that did not affect ski quality. Ridgetop wind from the west was moving snow all day causing spindrifts off the cliffs and depositing enough snow in sheltered areas to make for great skiing. One other party was up there today.
