Great spring tour up Hector. Highway to the glacier this a.m with 10 cars already at the p-lot at 6:30. Ski crampons were useful going up the first bowl (avi debris) before the bootpack gully. Tracks heading both left to the ridge and right straight up the steepish windpacked snow slope to Little Hector plateau. Teams took different lines up the glacier to the summit slopes. Left goes over sastrugi but avoids early exposure. Right has softer snow. Snow has become wind and sun affected in the alpine in the last few days. Ride skiers left on the way down for deeper turns. Snow and temperature stayed cool all morning. Snow was just starting to get moist at treeline around 1 p.m. No signs of instabilities/avalanche this a.m. 15 cars at p-lot at 1:30.
