Bearing in mind the persistent instabilities reported in the last Hot Zone report, we rode conservatively on the NE slopes at Log Cabin. We did not experience any instability as we were traveling. Cutting 30x30 by 50cm deep blocks of snow here and there showed a consolidated snowpack of 4 finger density covered by an average of less than 5 cm of fresh snow A weaker layer was present at 50 cm depth but still required force to get the block moving. The snow near gullies was a lot more wind affected on the N and NW aspects making travel near impossible. We observed multiple signs of old avalanches (1 week old or so as discussed on Facebook) in those gullies and they were getting covered by wind transported snow. We didn't expose ourselves to investigate further.
The avalanche date input is not accurate and included only because it is a required field. Approximative age of the avalanches have been provided by a third party.
