Did a number of quick hand shear tests throughout the day on open, steeper slopes at treeline. All tests resulted in highly resistant shears at the interface below a melt-freeze crust, buried in most locations around 5-10cms deep. Significant wind-loading in NW aspects especially, also N-NE. Observed approx. 10-15cms of DFs (wind-eroded particles) in these areas, with significant local collapsing of the surface wind slab, but no energy available for propagation on this layer. Below the melt-freeze crust, wet snow is highly abundant throughout all elevation bands and aspects.
