Gunsight / Cleavage

Shaded snow above 1400m was in excellent condition. Everything else was terrible combinations of rain crust, sun crust, tree bombs, wet point releases, etc. Gunsight Gap and Cleavage skied excellently. We conducted about a half dozen hand-shear tests at the base of Gunsight and found 30cm of dry unconsolidated blower snow sitting atop a supportive crust. The crust disappeared near the top of the couloir. Exit couloir was full of soft wet point release debris from all angles and skied like Elmers School Glue.
