Nak

Cole DeFehr, Saturday 27th March, 2021 7:55PM

Skin track up was a few cms of wet snow on top of a sometimes breakable, sometimes bombproof, crust up until around 1600m. Moving on from there, all slopes were wind effected but the snow was a little drier and made for some decently fun turns on the way down. Either wind pressed or wind loaded. Lots of cracking in the winded terrain, top few cms just sloughs off the crust. No propagation in a few hand shears. Visibility began to diminish quickly after 1800m and after another 100m of gain or so we decided we will not summit as it was difficult to properly assess the terrain.

Weather Report

A blustery day in the mountains. Occasionally gusty in the parking lot before we started. Above 1700m, winds became rather steady between 20-30km/hr. Gusts exceeding 50, generally seemed to be coming from the west. Visibility 1800m was diminishing quickly.
