Great Turns in Taylor Lake

mcfadden.andrewj, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

Great day riding in the moraine features below Bell Couloir, and the avalanche paths on the North side of the lake. 30-40cms of low density surface snow. Little to no signs of instabilities. We did not experience any windslab as forecasted, but stayed below 2300m. No cracking or wumphs, but loose dry on the south facing solar crusts. Surface snow had minimal slap properties and was not bonded well to older crusts. Went up with the intention of poking up Bell Couloir but the weather rolled in early, and it was slow going with trailbreaking 30+cms of low density. Just reached the foot of the fan and turned back due to poor Vis and weather. Ended up working for some of the deepest turns of the season.
