Climbed Andromache from Hector side and skied the Molar Glacier to no-see-um creek. Snow was starting to warm up around noon on steep South, but inversion felt weak at ridge top. 150cms of snow on the Molar Glacier. Moved off large convex slope on the descent to link smaller features after feeling soft windslab down 30 cms. Snow treeline and below is facetted and we were regularly ski cutting size 1 loose dry avalanches in steep unsupported terrain. The final decent to the creek required A 30m rappel. Hector Glacier approach is facetted above a supportive suncrust, ski crampons would have been nice.
Hector glacier was blown to bare ice in the 200 meters below the final headwall.
