Can be a complex snow pack with a January 13 crust that is widespread up to a certain elevation (1900). Above is storm and wind slabs still shallow (probing up to 250 high ALP) with crusts and facets below. Above 0 degrees warming weakens cornices and would be a caution for deeper instabilities.
Snow conditions were: Crusty, Deep powder. Weather conditions were: Cloudy, Cold. We rode: Alpine slopes, Steep slopes. We avoided: Convex slopes. Riding quality was good.
Avalache Conditions: Slab avalanches today or yesterday.
Avalanche
Confirmed Jan 13 crust as bed surface. Post pit showed us a CT 14 SP down 30 on a crust. Top 30cm is a stiffer (4F-1F) slab.
