Snow pack was a consistent 40cm from 1800m to 2200m. No hidden layers, all sugary powder from 1900m+. Melt freeze facets were present on surface from 1800m to aprox 2000m. Just under 1/2” surface hoar from previous night. Coverage is still variable out there and there’s lots of hidden hazards under the snow such as snags. If you haven’t yet, I’d recommend reading the recent fatality report from Kananaskis. It’s a good reminder of what we need to be looking out for and the mindset that needs to be kept as we start the season. Stay safe everyone
