Fast travel conditions for a walk in the park to investigate the bed surface for the next storm cycle. Highly variable snow on all aspects around the Black Tusk today. Widespread surface hoar developing in shaded areas around Taylor meadow. Mix of wind transported powder to rime and hard sastrugi on south slopes. Skied past an old Sz 2.5 Na from a few days ago, estimated crown 1.5m, 200m width, 400m runout, start zone 2100m, north aspect. Saw a similar sized avalanche on northwest aspect in steep rocky area below corniced ridge on Panorama Ridge. North slopes stripped of all snow with boilerplate ice. Mellow south slopes skied nicely with 10cm low density on top of hard crust. Beautiful day out for ski touring, with an emphasis on the touring.
