Test pitting exercise as part of AST2 field day. Pit at 1860m ENE asp on 33 degree slope. Temp -8C. Several repeatable CTM (13-15) Sudden Planar results on facets and deteriorating forms down 60-62 cm. We suspected but could not identify the 170302 surface hoar in this location. 170216cr/facet combo down 85 in this location which indicates very significant settling of the recent storm slab which might also explain why it's triggering so much more easily now. Reports of skier triggered windslabs in convex rollovers at similar elevations as well today.
