Started the day with a conservative run in the trees that we skied last Sunday and had been skied on Saturday before us so we knew that the surface hoar would have been previously disturbed. Second lap we considered a steeper more exposed entrance to a nearby run knowing that the surface hoar may well be present. Two people jumping on a flat area on the ridge managed to make a settlement and a slab up to 50 deep in a sheltered but gulley type start zone initiated. We decided to go up to the next slide path/chute up the ridge to try and promote and avalanche there as well to remove the PWL. In the second chute we were 5m back of the ridge on a low slope area. When putting my boot into the heal piece of my binding a settlement occurred and initiated the steep 45 degree start zone. No observations were taken from the crown but it did appear that there was a storm slab interface, likely on stellars that stepped down into the surface hoar. The group was a party of two and we are Ski Patrollers so initiating avalanches is what we do. We were 100% positive that there were no other groups in the area.
