Hiked up to Elk Mt, started skinning just before the top, trail icy. Traversed over the ridge partially through dense forest to mt Thurston. Powder turns on the descent on a north west slope in low angle trees produced multiple shooting cracks.
Tracks where blown over in exposed areas on the ridge due to strong winds.
Rained on the bottom, but snowed on top with varying intensity.
