N @2175 CT11 SP25cm HS100 This pit was below treeline. After the SP on SH, the rest of the column sheared easily on the basal 20cm facets. Easy shear on basal 20 cm facets Take a look at the photo. The only good news is that the storm slab at treeline and below was only F to 1F. In the alpine, a slab is beginning to form on ridges and shoulders: 5cm pencil on 20 cm 1F If this upper 25cm layer stiffens up it could knock you off your feet; it was starting to stiffen in the alpine. I hope that the overhanging cornices don't bomb out skiers below.
