Quick Observation

Awesome skiing. For the most part, we skied BTL and TL slopes from 1800-1400m on NW to NE aspects. The snow was low density with only a few isolated pockets which were wind effected. We didn’t observe any slopes that seemed loaded, and it makes sense since winds have recently been coming in from northern directions instead of the typical prevailing directions. There was a ~2-5cm thick sun crust, which disappeared by 1350m or so. Not sure how long this low density snow will preserve but things will definitely change quickly when temps increase or a wind event occurs. Regardless, as of right now the conditions in the Callaghan region are pretty sweet on these NW to NE treeline slopes so get after it!
