Quick Observation

Hard crust down low (ski crampons would have been nice) with some new snow on top further up which quickly became wind effected in exposed areas on most aspects. Winds were shifting through the day from south east to north west. Dug a quick pit on an open south east aspect where we encountered wind loading: 1st hit from elbow - 15cm down planer break (pictured) Lower snowpack seemed fairly well consolidated but the new wind effected snow seemed to react easily in our pit test. Skiing down the hard snow was actually pretty enjoyable. Pleasant corn with a buttering of pow on top? Happy skiing!
