We went up West Nile today, leaving the trail in -17°C. By 3:30, it warmed to -5°C. At treeline, a crust collapsed under our feet, so we dug a pit on the lee side of a wind slab. Snowpack: 150 cm total. Top 40 cm was soft pow, then a hard crust (110–100 cm). Below 95 cm, faceted snow. In a column test, the 110 cm layer kept collapsing as we cut it. We turned around. On the way down, we ski-cut a small convex with little hazard potential but couldn't trigger anything. Beautiful, sunny day on the 93N.
