Exploration day beyond the Crystal Ridge Sled ski area. Did one quick snowpack eval on West exposure at 2200m Sudden collapse on Mid Jan pwl. (Approx 40cm down) All faceted on all aspects we toured, with a new layer of large hoar crystals (10-15mm or more in a few spots) forming everywhere in the alpine here. Skied one run 22-25 degree slope. Lots of settlement when traveling. Signs of recent solar avalanche activity steeper on East and South East exposures. Surprising that the alpine here wasnt wind hammered like surrounding slopes.
