Powder in Paradise

Megan Kelly, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

We found 60cm of the new storm snow but it is riding like more because of the unconsolidated base. Light powder made for great times in the flats at Mear lake. We saw evidence of a 24-36 hr old natural avalanche cycle that ran during the storm. One notable avalanche crossed the crossing creek trail leaving debris across the road and down into the flats. All this new snow is sitting on 65 cm of weak sugary snow to ground. If you step off your sled you quickly sink almost to ground. We are taking a cautious approach moving into avalanche terrain and avoiding slopes where we see shooting cracks or wind affected snow.
