Wx: Despite Environment Canada calling for windy conditions, the valley & surrounding peaks were calm for the first 1/2 of the day. The wind had picked up considerably when we crossed the river on the way back. Temps were -18C at the start & -3C when we came back to our vehicle. There were some clouds, but this didn't keep the sun off the other side of the valley.
Conditions: There are 3 new rap stations, one at the top of the climb, on the LHS, a second at the base of the upper pillar, LHS. The rap station through the 'eye' has been replaced as well. The 2nd rap requires a 70m rope to get off the ice. There are a few blocks above the 2nd rap, they're frozen solid right now & I'm not sure if they would ever be 'loose' during winter.
We climbed the route in 2 pitches. The ice was quite hard but not too 'dinner platey'. We climbed the upper column on the left & found it to be solid WI5 conditions. The upper pitch was definitely more sustained than it looked from below. I hope my 'location pin' is close enough.
