paradise valley. ‘nough said.
relatively smooth travel up into the valley. breaking trail thru recent storm snow. track previously well broken in.
supportive crust bottomed boot top pow coating the apron. few frozen debris chunks lurking!
bottom of line is generally storm slough deposits (4F). mellower slope angle is filling in nicely. 30cm+ consistent hardness.
mid line is holding sheets of amazing soft storm snow. bonding well to hard layer below. slough is moving and building in areas from natural/skier activity. steep convexities are hard (P) compressed snow. excellent climbing condition. “engaging“ ski quality.
top bowl is full of deep sheltered snow. quite the wallow (wish I had plates…). Dry (F) snow measured at 49° in the upper pitch. all time ski quality.
jazzed to ski this top to bottom. kooked the approach thru lookers left boulder field next to apron (doh). stay high. faceted (F) hard snow around all thin areas/rock walls. steady cool to cold day in the valley. VF lifting thru day. light/mod winds moving clouds and small precip (S-1) squalls throughout day. small fresh sloughs periodically falling down walls. calm clearing beautiful sunset to finish!
