Warm feet at Cold feet

Headed up to Hartley Lake area (Coldfeet) today, in mild temperatures with calm winds. With good visibility, we saw no signs of recent avalanches.
We dug on a southwest-facing slope at 1980 m, interested in the deep persistent weak layers. The November facets are buried around 90 cm deep. At this elevation, there was a hard melt-freeze crust down 40 cm, which started to become less of a crust and more of a consolidated layer above 2000 m. While these layers are supportive to riders, we continue to be cautious of thin and rocky terrain features where the persistent weak layer may still be human-triggered.
Under the recent storm snow, a buried layer of surface hoar produced a moderate result on the column test, CTM(SC) down 20cm.
Stability tests gave us some confidence, but we chose to keep it conservative and descend through the trees, the 20cm of storm snow made for great turns
