Victoria NE Face

Skied the NE face of Victoria this morning. Crust was present everywhere except the top 2-300m of glacier below the bergshrund. The face was covered in 10-20cm of stable powder, with the occasional short section of thin windboard/solar crust. Unfortunately we were completely socked in for the entire ascent, so we weren’t able to appreciate the views as much as we would’ve liked. We got lucky with a glory hole on the summit which briefly gave us enough vis to enjoy the excellent turns down the face and appreciate the setting.
Saw several naturals, all on solar aspects, once we were back in the relative safety of the valley. Also saw evidence of many prior wet slides on solar aspects between 1,500 - 2,500m. Last night’s refreeze (and the night before’s) were not super strong, which seemed like a contributing factor, along with the warm temps and strong sun.
