Joffre Shoulder & Chief Pascall

albertocsanz, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

Saturday March 19th spent the day on Joffre shoulder. At least 15 cm of snow Fri-Sat, and continued to snow for another ~10 cm on Saturday. Stayed cold and the snow was amazing. No signs of instabilities in the trees, we poked our heads out above treeline to find some wind effected snow. Skied all day in the trees, were snow was best and sheltered from the wind. Sunday we spent the day in Chief Pascal - made it to the ridge with the intention of dropping into Equinox, but bad visibility and potential for wind slabs made us turn around. Wind was hauling and moving snow. Snow was a bit wind affected above treeline on the lee side, but otherwise amazing in the trees with no signs of instabilities. Below 1500 m the powder got thinner and the crust became noticeable. Stayed cold and didn't transform, kept snowing by the time we left the area at 5PM.
