Cirque peak

jocelyn_nadeau, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Trip to Cirque peak from winter trailhead, down Nbowl and out the drainage btw Cirque and Observation sub-peak. -9 at 6:30 and rock hard snow. Almost needed ski crampons going up the luge run. There were signs of activity on solar aspects from steep rocky terrain (mostly sloughing) & one size 2.5 off one of the Dolomite gully. Travel was good with close to 0 ski penetration. We ski cramponed up the face to the end of the rocks then bootpacked up well kicked in buckets to the top. We used the rap rings at the col to descend as the top of the gully is a real cheese grater. Snow in the gully was decent but choppy then 15 cm of powder over supportive pack down the N bowl. Nice breeze up high was keeping things cool. Snow was just starting to get moist around 1 on the S facing slope in the descent gully. Ski down the S side of gully was still decent but would guess that changed within the next 2 hours. +7 at 1:30 and rising quickly!
