Went exploring up Evelyn Creek today to find deep trail breaking and excellent skiing when we could get up to speed.
Snow conditions were consistent with recent reports. HS ~70 cm, a crust down ~50 with facets beneath, a ~20cm 4-finger layer on top of the crust, and unconsolidated snow with some interfaces to the surface. Surface hoar is staring to grow below treeline. Localized whumphs were felt all day from valley bottom to the alpine. Alpine wind slabs were found up to 10 cm thick, and some pulled out easy with hand sheers.
A fresh size 3 slab was noted on a wind-loaded NE alpine slope, at least 400m wide and a meter deep at its thickest. An older size 2 was seen on a similar aspect, appeared to have run during the storm cycle.
-11C to -7C with a light west wind all day, and cloud cover cleared in the evening.

Avalanche Conditions
Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.
Snow Conditions
Deep powder, Wind affected.
