Fitzsimmons 1850m

msulkers, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Moistening surface snow on solar aspects at treeline began failing as slabs, especially at sudden convexities. Failures were consistent 45 and 55 cm down. The lower appearing to be the 190108 Sh/Fc layer. Some slabs triggered sympathetic slabs nearby. Entrainment along flanks noticeable. Above 1900m on non-solar aspects, skiing was good and more wintery. No cracking or whumpfing except ski cuts on steep test convexities. Cornices drooping in afternoon with some minor failures.
