Fish Bowl middle Tree line

johnlouis.fahie, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

went out to the fish bowl from resort to do some snowpack investigating after the recent weather. Dug a pit at North Facing slope 33 degrees. 200cm snow pack, Found reactive recent storm layer at ~50cm CT 13 Resistant planer. Lower layer of interest at approximately 90 cm. Completed another test CT 15 resistant planer. The deep persistent layer of December did not move for us. There was a strong mid pack for us on top of that layer. We stuck to the low angle trees and had some great snow! The bottom of Fish has a tonne of alders and the shoots are thick with alders and the snow is sluffy due to the freezing and rain from the warm weather last week and new snow on top. We noticed that where the sluff accumulated it hit a threshold and began taking the rest of the new storm snow with with. Handle with care and find safe option to go down. Be prepared to bush wack or take the high traverse back to the resort. There was a lot of evidence of previous avalanches everywhere in the bowl. Have some fun out there and be safe
