Louise Falls

jacob.dans.p, Saturday 7th December, 2024 11:00PM
Route is in early season shape and all low angle ice is wet and slushy from yesterdays storm. It was possible to keep the rope and belays reasonably dry with careful route finding. The Left Pillar is well supported and protected well but thin at the top out and unconsolidated chandeliers through the middle. This pitch is in harder shape than usual. The top pitch was also thin and hard to protect for the last 5m. One 10cm ice screw was nice to have. Walkoff is a bit rougher than usual with the current snowpack offering no support over the rocks and roots. We didn’t experience any sluffing today but had no wind or snowfall. HS in the area was 40-50cm.
