Still Calm, Still HOT !

South Rockies

Ski toured up to a ridge this afternoon and had a good look around ….. despite it being mostly cloudy (“broken”), it was H.O.T. ……. +10 at our sleds at 1900 m, +4 at 2200 m at ridgetop, with a light breeze blowing from the South West. The snow was “moist” (made a firm damp snowball, but not dripping), even in the shade at the top. On the plus side, we noticed that the cornices have melted back a little and were less overhanging. We saw no natural avalanches beyond some small surface rollerballing, no results “skiing” the schmoo, nor any failures in our test pit.
